Currently, the penalty for the offense ranges between 1,000 and $1,500. But in the new changes police seek to make the Road Code, it requires that this fine be passed on to the commission, worth between 5,000 and 15 thousand dollars (approximately 150 euros), the same measure as not to put a seat belt.
But the working group, set up for new changes, according to sources, has predicted yet another complementary measure. If a driver is fined three times in a year for the use of a mobile phone, he will be suspended for six months.
These changes have also found the support of some MPs, who are expected to propose to the Parliament soon to review the Road Code.
