During a television interview, US President Donald Trump has raised a question on the United States' commitment, for example to protecting the state of Montenegro, in case this small country is attacked.
While the journalist asks the American president: “Why does my son have to go to Montenegro to protect that country from attacks” The president answers: “The same question I've asked and I myself”
Montenegro is the 29th and youngest member of the military alliance, which joined June 2017.
Meanwhile, numerous reactions have come to the American president's statement.
Among these is one of the US senator John McCain, and here's the Telegraph.
Montenegro's “People, courageously, resisted pressure from Putin's Russia to embrace democracy. The Senate voted 97 to 2 supporting its NATO accession. By attacking Montenegro and questioning our obligations under NATO, the president is serving Putin”, McCain wrote.
