After the meeting, the two presidents went to a joint press conference, underlining the centuries-old friendship between the Albanian and Croatian people.
“Croatia and Albania have a very early friendship, and this is confirmed by many important historical moments. I thank our Croatian friends, who have unconditionally supported us in Albania's EU integration process”, Meta said at the press conference.
President Meta did not hesitate to compliment his Croatian counterpart, in terms of Croatia's success in the World “Russia-1818x1>, also identified the fact that this visit to Tirana comes in the year of Skenderbe.
On the other hand, the Croatian president also identified Albanian-Croat friendship in her address and said today's discussion relates to strengthening co-operation between the two countries.
“Albania was Croatia's friend when friends were few. Our dialogue has been born since the early years of our independence, and we today discussed further strengthening the co-operation between the two countries. In 18 thousand Albanians living in Croatia, 2,500 were volunteers in war, and some lost their lives and others disappeared”, Kitarovic said.
Meanwhile, during her visit Croatia's president will be expected at separate meetings by Prime Minister Edi Rama and Parliament Speaker Gramoz Ruci and will hold a welcoming word before MPs in the Albanian Assembly.
Also, Croatia's president during his stay in Tirana will meet with Democratic Party Chairman Lulzim Basha, also hosted by Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, and visit the town of Durres, his port, where the Croatian environment protection project, the town of Berat, and the town of Kruja will be launched.
