Serbian politician Cedomir Jovanovic thinks Serbia should organise referendum on the Kosovo issue. He says holding a referendum on Kosovo would be a better option than deciding to go to the polls.
In a proposal for the news agency, Jovanovic has said that organising new elections would take Serbia long, although they are the best option in democracy, writes Periscope.
He has said that at the time when dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia has entered the final phase, it would not have to lose energy in the elections, but to organise the referendum.
This coalition wants to hold elections, but this people has some historical responsibilities that they shouldn't bear to future generations and that's why I'm asking what country we'll leave to our young people to live in the future because of today. It's a historic opportunity for this that should not be lost”, Jovanovic said, broadcast Periscopi.
According to him, those who oppose the referendum and want new elections in Serbia are interested in keeping a situation frozen in Kosovo due to their close interests.
Kosovo's “question requires a caution and should in no way become part of the election campaigns of political parties because we have now come to a situation where we can solve a problem we have been having for a long time. This problem is above all parties”, Jovanovic has said. /Periscope.
