The Executive Director of the American Chamber of Economics in Kosovo, Arian Zeka, said that despite Kosovo being a new state, it has marked great progress in terms of doing business, which is reflected also in the World Bank's report measuring the ease of doing business, but also that of The Heritage Foundation, which measures global economic freedoms, which ranks Kosovo much better than most Western Balkan countries, but also many member states of the European Union.
He announced business representatives present for the Kosovo Government's decision to establish the Special American Economic Zone in the town of Gjakova.
Zeka said that potential American investors, within the area, will be offered free land, release from customs for production lines and raw materials, customs depots within the area, as well as an office that would carry out all the application procedures for construction permits and other operational permits on behalf of American companies.
According to him, Kosovo offers a friendly environment for American companies, while the Zone as such is a unique model in the region and the wider dedicated to American companies.
In this event, General Timothy Orr, Commander of the National Guard of Iowa, Kim Heidemann from the U.S. Si-Sisters and Debbie Durham, Director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority.
The latter also organised a meeting for the American company “Ideal Energy”, which presented itself to the General Consul and director of the American Economic Ode, their plan for investments in Kosovo's alternative energy generation.
