Interior Minister Bejtush Gashi, along with Kosovo Police Director General Naim Rexha, have visited the Podujevo municipality today where they have been hosted by the mayor, Agim Veliu.

At this meeting, Minister Gashi and Chairman Veliu have talked about issues that concern this municipality, while special emphasis was given to the issue of order and security for the citizens of Podujevo and concerns about the large number of accidents occurring in the streets of this region and supported the creation of “Task Force” for safety in communications.

Also at this meeting was talked about the police's role and engagement in protecting public and private property, separately in protecting forests from illegal cutters.

After meeting with the mayor of Gashi and Rexha have visited the border crossing point at Merdare to see closely how works are being conducted there.

“Today we made a visit to the Podujevo municipality, with the goal of informing ourselves of developments the municipality faces and of the commitments that have been made additional under the municipality to mobilise in summer days. This mobilization comes as a need to increase the influx of our countrymen living in the West, and in this direction the municipality has pledged to have made additional commitments to meet demands that citizens have”, Gashi said.

He thanked U n NOPS for the continued work they are doing at this crossing point, as one of the most frequent points at present.

Columns at this crossing point come as a result of the Serbian side, which is not respecting Brussels' agreements, while problems on the Kosovo side do not have and for a waiting car at the point Kosovo controls 3-5 minutes.
