Hoxha: Council of Ministers Set Again for Visas

European Integration Minister Gifts Hoxha, at today's meeting of the Parliamentary Commission for European Integrations, has said that following the positive visa recommendation for Kosovo, in the ongoing procedures Kosovo may face challenges in the Council of Ministers. All of this, according to Minister Hoxha, could happen because of the recent EU debate on immigration.

“It is good news that Kosovo has fulfilled all criteria for visa liberalisation. It's been a clear story without two meanings, but that's just the first step. The next step is now on the Commission for Citizens' Policy, which will be held 29 August. And that's when the negotiative mandate will be given and the dialogue between the states starts”, Hoxha said.

Meanwhile, talking about the next steps for visa liberalisation for Kosovo, Hoxha said there may be obstacles to the EU Council of Ministers.

THE entire process should be completed between the EU and Kosovo treaty. I admit that we can have challenges on the Council of Ministers because some ministers are more conservative, but we are drafting an action plan together with Government”, Hoxha said.

Hoxha also said the action plan will be drafted with the Kosovo Assembly and the Commission, where it will be lobbied to various states to present Kosovo's achievements.

We remember that the European Commission recommended visa liberalisation for Kosovo, giving the news that Kosovo has fulfilled all the criteria in this direction.
