Government ignores KEKA, changes the direction of the new mine

The Kosovo government has finally decided to change the direction of the New Mine, which will be available to the “New Kosovo thermal power plant. The location will be in the village of Lismir of Fushe Kosovo. This was done despite the fact that KEK had proposed that the best version is continuing in the existing “mine. Sibovci Southwest”, [...]
Despite KEK recommendations that the New Mine be the continuation of that existing “Sibovci Southwest”, the Kosovo government has decided that the location will be in Fushe Kosovo.
According to documents provided by ORAinfo, the most suitable option proposed by KEK for opening the New Mine has been continuing in the existing “mine The southwestern Sibovci”, which includes the village of Hades, whose inhabitants have been seeking a solution for years.
But the Kosovo government, the Technical Group, respectively, has already decided that the New Mine will open in the village of Lismir of Fushe Kosovo, completely avoiding the existing mine. ORAinfo had reported days earlier that this decision is expected to be made very soon.
“From the last meeting with the prime minister is almost set for this option. If we go with the village of Lismir, this means that we have to announce tenders to select a company to remove the soil and there is uncertainty about when the new mine could be opened”, a Haradinaj Commission member had said, revealing details from the meeting.
In the village of Lismir, in the area where the new mine is being set to open, KEK has over the years dumped the ground collected by existing mines. Based on the documents provided, the Government for this option will have to announce a million-dollar tender for the removal of soil, and will go up to 10 years before the mine is ready for coal extraction.
KEK had proposed existing mine
Against this option was the Kosovo Energy Corporation itself.
In an analysis of the Committee created by the prime minister, a copy of which I provided ORAinfo of April 6th, the version of continuing the existing mine is mentioned as more appropriate.
“Comis unanimously proposes that the most favourable field in terms of technical-technology is Variant North N.3.2, including the village of Hades, provided the Government ensures the shift of the Hades village to 2018/19<18x1>, says in this analysis.

The committee in his letter mentions a host of reasons for this option.
“Pront opened for the length of the ladder in the east and coal in the south and west. From the technological aspect according to the existing situation, we quickly arrive to create enough coal reserves for accounting. The quality of coal meets the required parameters. Short rides. Less expensive maintenance, etc. ”
At the end of the analysis, the Committee once again confirms that based on all of this, “is defined for the North Field version and we propose that the most favourable option for the New Mine is the involvement of the Hade” field.

Meanwhile, the variation in the village of Lismir, which has already been approved, in addition to many vagueities, has also been a major setback even when coal mining begins there.
According to KEK analysis, provided by ORAinfo, the first reserves would be released in 2032. Also, a specialised company should be selected to remove the soil accumulated there over the years.
“Into this area must be the removal of 110 million m3m m3 refolding measures of the wasteland, meaning discontinuel mechanism. Buying 3 new systems (Eskavator, Folds and carrier tape).
parallel work on the two fronts and the problem of cutting these measures in actual folding. Insufficient geologic research on the amount and quality of coal”, there are only some of the measures KEK analysis mentions for this option.
Luka: New location is strategic orientation
Meanwhile, Economic Development Minister Valdrin Luka has told the media that the technical group has found that heading south for the new mine is strategic orientation for the country.
He has said this recommendation of the technical group is conditional, as new research needs to be done in that area to see if the amount and quality of coal is enough to make such an investment.
The technical group's recommendation says that as a strategic orientation for the country should be used south side, but by 2027 or 2030, it should continue in this direction, so north, because there are evidence reserves, and then we need to verify all information for paintbrush on the south side, to confirm it has coal and quality. And if the opposite happens, so there is no right quality coal, then we need to keep going north for the next 40 years”, Luka said.
If headed south, Luka says it would be a good orientation for the country, since over 90% of the land is state-owned and there would be no cost of expropriation, which would provide enough coal for the next 40 to 50 years.
If we go south, there will be no need for exhumations”, Luka said.
If you go south, as experts are saying, based on some measurements of pre-war and post-war, all results show there is greater potential than north. Even the coal is said to be the best in the South, has more calories and has reserves for the next 40 years”, Minister Luka has said further.
If the mining orientation is directed towards the South (in the direction of Kosovo field), it would not need to be exhumed in the next 50 years.
He says that if he leaves the south he can't keep getting hurt, then he has to go north, where once again the Hades will need new expropriations, because the lands in the north are in private majority.
This is a sensitive issue because after Hades, there's a lot of private land that was meant to be exhumed, but to avoid those lands in the future, we're taking strategic orientation from the south, but for the next 10 years, there's still north, which means to Hades and I believe those lands will be expropriated and there will be no building”, he said.
Luka has also indicated that the technical group's recommendation to the issue will go to Government over the next week.
