The European Union added six Russian companies involved in the construction of the Kerc bridge connecting southern Russia to the Crimea Peninsula to the list of sanctions.
The decision, taken by EU ambassadors days ago, was published on Tuesday in the bloc's Official Journal.
In total, the EU has frozen the assets of 44 entities from Russia and Ukraine, since Moscow has annexed the Ukrainian Crimea region in March 2014 and has started supporting separatists east of Ukraine.
In addition, 155 individuals from both countries are subject to EU restrictive measures.
Three of the companies recently included in the EU sanctions list: Mostots, Stroygazmontage and Stroygazmontage Most are owned by Arkdy Rotenberg, a businessman close to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Rothenberg is also involved in the list of individuals sanctioned by the EU.
According to the bloc, building the 19km-long Kerc bridge from Russia has contributed to destabilising Ukraine's territorial integrity.
