Cotzias attacks hard Moscow: Stop the diplomacy of vanity

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias has declared that times have already changed, and Greece has no reason to remain calm as a chicken in front of large states either in the east or in the west. The statement was made as a response to Moscow's threats that the expulsion of Russian diplomats will have serious consequences for [...]
Our country is determined to send a message both East and West to all who are our friends but also to those who are not, that for anyone who violates the principles of sovereignty and respect of Greece, there will be appropriate measures. It's been a time when diplomacy was considered chicken. This is a vain diplomacy and not foreign policy. ”
The chief of Greek diplomacy says he is not at all concerned about the tension recently created in Greek-Russian relations.
“Sergej Lavrov, whom I consider one of the best diplomats on the international stage and with whom I have a friendly relationship asked me to invite to Greece to prepare Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' trip to Moscow. I tell you, Lavrov knows what to do, if he wants to come, if he doesn't want to come, he'll be welcome anyway. If he thinks he should be identified with those we have deported or with those not allowed to enter Greece, it is his issue, Russia's issue, whether it wants to identify with them or not.”
The Greek foreign minister also spoke of the agreement with Macedonia on the name, naming Macedonia the first state in the world after World War II, which changes its name. Kocias stressed that it is not easy for citizens of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to take such a decision.
