Kosovo President Hashim Thaci is awaiting the Constitutional Court's decision to appoint new members of the Central Election Commission (KQZ). That's how he knew about the paper “The new age” a source within the Presidency.
According to this source, the president's office has requested the Constitutional Court's opinion regarding the number of nominations of political subjects for CEC members, but has so far received no response.
“We have requested the Constitutional Court's opinion regarding the right to parliamentary subjects/groups for nominating members of the CEC. We are awaiting the court's decision and the moment we get the answer, the process of appointing new members of the CEC” will continue, this source has said.
While officials of the ruling parties see the president's move as fair, opposition officials, on the other hand, appreciate it as action to prolong the process.
