The competition for director of the Law Medicine Institute risks failure again

The Public Administration Ministry has argued the annulments of two previous contests because there were no qualified candidates for the position.
“The competition for the first time was announced in 03.11.2017, and six candidates have applied to that position. There have not been sufficient candidates qualified to move on. The contest was resurfaced in March, seven candidates applied, and for the same reason, it was canceled. The contest for the third time was resumed in 19.04,2018. Of the ten candidates that applied, five of them are selected for a tight list, three of them have been recommended for further procedure”, the Public Administration Ministry says in response from the Office for Media.
The deadline for complaints after the interview, which had 6 rival candidates, has been closed Wednesday, until only 3 have passed into the last phase.
In the race for this position, the current director of the Law Medicine Institute, Arsim Gerjaliu, Musa Gashi and Naim Uka.
One of these names is to be sent to the Government of Kosovo for a vote.
The justice minister, who manages this institution, acknowledges that it has been the biggest challenge he has faced since he received the mandate.
However, he says his names are not yet, but the likelihood is that the process will be cancelled again.
The election of the director of the Institute has been the pledge of the justice minister, and the goal was to function and increase the capacity of this department, following EULEX's departure.
The latter's officials are still physically in the Institute, but according to the minister, they do not have executive competencies.

In its transitional provisions, it was envisioned that EULEX experts work together with locals in order to develop capacity and ensure that the IML has sufficient well-trained experts capable of providing forensic expertise, meeting international standards.
