Geoffrey Wellim, as 18-year-old, joined the RAF in August 1939, died in Cornwall on Wednesday evening.
The decorated veteran and former leader of the team introduced “The Few” was approaching the 97th anniversary of his birth before his death, the Sun” reported, the Periscope broadcast.
He served on the 92 squad line and was the first mission to include “dogs” on London and the main districts for which Britain's Battle became known.
British Memorial Trust Secretary Patrick Tootal said the members are “very sad with news”.
He added “alone this week Wellum spoke enthusiastically about the Westminster Abekey memorial service on September 16th”.
Wellum stayed at RAF until 1960 and wrote a best-seller book about his experience in World War II./Periscopi/
