In Albania, there are 400 Turkish companies with investments in $3 billion, Turkey wants more than that

Currently there are more than 400 Turkish companies operating in Albania, as in the field of energy, mines, telecommunications, textiles, banking, logistics and health. The number of employees in them is more than 15,000. Turkish Republic Ambassador to Tirana Murat Ahmet Yörük said in an interview for the Agency [...]
The ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Tirana, Murat Ahmet Yörük, said in an interview for the Albanian Telegraph Agency that, <x0, economic and trade relations between the two countries occupy an important location in bilateral relations”.
The overall investment value of the Turkish private sector in Albania is close to $3 billion. And our commercial volume in 2017 was about $450 million. But we do not consider these figures sufficient in both investment and bilateral trade volume”, Yörük said.
But, he added, our “potential is very high than these numbers. We have opportunities to invest in many sectors, such as education, health, infrastructure, transport, energy, mining and tourism. Today the Turkish economy is 16th in the world. In 2017 an average of 7.4 percent was the fastest growing economy in the world. We have a dynamic and developing economy and infrastructure”.
We anticipate that this potential will be mobilized for the benefit of Albania and thus contribute to the welfare, employment and increased income for our Albanian brothers. In our investment potential, there is certainly no limit. In 2013, that is, the 100th anniversary of our “Friendship and Co-operation Agreement” and the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey, we want our investments to reach $5 billion and more and the number of employees in our companies to exceed 30 thousand”, Yörük noted.
Especially, he underlined, “in the area of tourism Albania has great potential. But compared to surrounding countries, we note that the share Albania receives from tourism revenues is low. If we look at natural beauty, majestic and clean coastline, historical and cultural assets, it is clear that Albania can benefit far more from tourism”. / A T S
