Over 11m euros were spent on elections in 2017

The costs of the national elections held on June 11th 2017 amount to 4m and 38m and 768 euros and a cost of 2.2 euros to a voter.
Central Election Commission Chairman (KQZ) Valdete Daka before the Commission for Business and Finance said that over 7m euros, or 3.71 euros per voter, were spent on local elections.
“Expenses for local elections in the second round, so for the first round held on 22 October and the second round of November 19th, and for revote in the municipality of Istog, were in the 7m and 18m and 824 euros and costs for a vote of 3.71 euros”, Daka said.
A total of 11 million and 57m and 591 euros have been spent for the elections held in 2017.
Daka says local elections are always more expensive than parliamentary ones.
“This time they were more expensive because we have without many secondary rounds, many municipalities have gone to the second round and we have had revotes in the Istog municipality. Therefore, the cost of local elections is evidently greater than that of parliamentary”, the CEC chairman added.
The CEC in the January-December 2017 period has spent 16m and 62 thousand and 781 euros.
According to the mayor, The CEC has been realised at 97.4 per cent of the planned budget.
