The large number of projects may not be realised this year, due to the country's government's salary increase. About 10m euros a year, the money that this increase will cost the budget. Commission for Buzhet Chairman Lumir Abdixhiku, in a proposal for Online Economy, said the wage hike in [...]
Commission for Buzhet Chairman Lumir Abdixhiku, in a proposal for Online Economics, said that wage increases in compliance with socio-economic needs and unfair to taxpayers.
According to him, instead of implementing projects, the government has received the prime minister's salary to be tenfold the average salary in Kosovo and almost twentyfold the minimum wage.
“Budget can be treated by cutting capital projects, failing to realize the goals set out with the budget law, so of course it's very easy for the entire budget to be spent on wages, but it's not fair”
The “therefore as a political decision is wrong, as a financial decision is costly, and as an economic decision,” is inappropriate.
“As a political act, it is incompatible with Kosovo's socioeconomic needs and unfair to taxpayers because it puts public officials' salaries first in the prime minister's tenfold average salary in Kosovo, almost twentyfold the minimum wage. So as a political decision is not a good example, I have to give the government of a poor country”.
Abdixhiku has requested clarification by the finance ministry clarification on the precise cost of how much means will be spent on wages, EO reports.
“I have requested clarification from the Finance Ministry to address us with accurate answers and precise calculations. I'm awaiting this estimate, but there's an estimated 10m euros of annual cost to the entire chain of public servants that affects the increase in salaries”.
When he spoke of reviewing the budget, he said the government would not take such an action.
There is no legal obligation on when such a thing would happen at this time, but in all likelihood, the Government will not review the budget at all”.
