Chief Parliamentary Wessel thanked his counterpart for Austria's continued military, political and economic support for Kosovo in all phases, especially in recent years in terms of expanding international recognition and in the process of European integration.
In this post, Chief Prime Minister Wessel requested Austria's necessary support for visa liberalisation.
“We need Austria's support on our way towards European integration. The Republic of Kosovo has fulfilled all criteria for visa liberalisation, and our citizens deserve to move freely to Europe. We expect that at the end of this year our citizens will be able to move without visas to the Schengen Zone”, said Chief Parliamentary Veseli.
Wessel also announced the Austrian chief parliament of current developments in Kosovo, steps institutions are taking in the area of economic development and commitments under the European integration process and membership in various international organisations.
Austria's Parliament Speaker Wolfgang Sobotka, the Vienna visit to President Wessel and the accompanying delegation, saw an opportunity to contribute more to the strengthening and further advancement of relations that both states and respective parliaments already cultivate among themselves.
He praised the developmental steps Kosovo has made in all areas, while expressing his state's readiness to continue its support for Kosovo in the future as well.
“Australia supports Kosovo on its path towards European integration. Austria always supports Kosovo in the visa liberalisation process, and if it is estimated that the criteria have been met, we are willing to continue this support for abolishing visas”, said Chief Prime Minister Sobotka.
The lobbiing tour for visa liberalisation, chief speaker Veselin has decided to begin in Austria, as this friendly state of Kosovo from July 1st will take over the chairmanship of the European Council.
On this visit, the chief speaker Wessel is being accompanied by a representative of each parliamentary group: Glauk Konjufca VV, Aida Druguti P The DS, Teuta Rugova LDK, Evgen Thaci Dragusha PDK, Time Kadrijaj AAK, Bilal Sheriff Initiative Social Democrat, Adem Hodza LLS and Fikrim Damka 6+.
