Veliera in Durres is an intervention that will transform not only one area but the image of an entire city.
So Prime Minister Edi Rama declared today in presenting new projects to the Durres district.
Rama stopped in the transformation project in the municipality of Durres, the sailman, while calling for the politically organised masquerade to end.
“I very much hope that the politically organised masquerade will end, through some charlatans calling themselves environmental defenders, to block one of the projects that anyone has rejected, the sailer”, Rama said.
The prime minister demanded that work continue and the upcoming season and Veliera be there not only to transform Durres from the point of pollution of traffic and ugliness, but has also become magnet for tourism.
I'm so sorry about what happened against this project. This is the shame of those who have orchestrated it, including those who have become parties to the so - called justice system against it. They are involved in a shameful story, typical stories when there is something new that breaks relations with the past and opens windows for the future”, Rama said.
It also brought attention the anti-building reactions of the Tirana Lake Park dam, or reactions against the construction of the new National Stadium, which according to Rama, “is of Europe's highest and most beautiful standards.
We wanted to finish Veles, transform Durres' coastal mall and make it the same quality and standard with that of Vlora and Himara. We want to create a whole new energy in Durres with Veles at the entrance, Sfinksin at the bottom and toward the sea with the cross-country passenger terminal”, Rama said.
If Veliera were completed, Rama voiced confidence that Albania would have four finalist projects at the European Prize for Best Public Space.
From 470 European cities to competition we are the only country with three finalist projects: “Square Skenderbej”, Lungomare and the Himara residence”, Rama said.
