Veliaj: I quit if I prove we paid Rita Ora

At today's municipal Council meeting, Mayor Erion Veliaj declared that Tirana's municipality has not spent a penny of its budget to bring to Tirana, world-renowned singers Rita Ora and Ermal Meta, who applied to “Square Skenderbej” donating spectacles to residents of the capital.

“Tirana's Bashkia, the treasure is online, it's spent zero dollars, zero cents”, Veliaj said.

The mayor said that if the municipality of Verona paid for Albanian world music talents at the concert, everything in Tirana has been accomplished without spending a penny.

“Did the Tirana municipality and authorities use the connection to Ermal, with Rita bringing and changing the agenda? Of course, any mayor would. But when I think the mayor who took them both after Tirana was our twin municipality of Verona and spent millions on the rich, we had them free and slandered them. They paid them on taxes and thanked them. Can you get better? Let's not become telendara. I resign from City Hall, if City Hall has spent money on these artists.”, Veliaj said.
