All Thaci said today before starting in Brussels for final phase of dialogue with Serbia

President Hashim Thaci has extended a public invitation to political subjects for involvement in the dialogue with Belgrade, while confirming that the border issue with Serbia, which he said are around 400km, will be on the negotiating table and assured that they will not allow any millimeter of Kosovo's territory to be violated.

He during a media conference has talked about the invitation of EU High Representative Federica Moghrini, to the new meeting, which will be held in Brussels.

Thaci said this will be the first meeting of the final phase of dialogue between the two countries and that the time has come for a historic agreement.

The head of our country said Kosovo in the final phase of dialogue with Serbia will have the strong support of the US and EU, which are interested in reaching the final agreement on normalising relations as a necessary condition for Kosovo and Serbia's EU membership.

This is the first meeting of the final phase of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia. This is confirmed by the official letter sent by the mediator of this Moghrin process. Our goal, of course, in this final phase of this dialogue is to reach the legally binding agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, which will enable the full normalisation of relations between our countries and our peoples. I am convinced that the time has come, since talks that are now lasting for 20 years, to sign a historic agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, in which a tragic era over a century would end, in reports between two states and our people”, he said.

While he said he expects serious talks to be difficult because the conclusion of this process is now aimed at making the comprehensive, historical and political agreement with Serbia.

As president of Kosovo on the basis of constitutional mandate, law and civic legitimacy, he said he has a constitutional obligation to represent the state of Kosovo, in the international arena and to lead this dialogue until the end of this process. While confirming that this exceeds the provisional political mandates and that all should be involved in this process.

President Thaci said Kosovo should have a team as inclusive as it is, to discuss things in advance and in order to avoid misunderstandings and transparency. According to him, the battle with Serbia is not being carried out by boycotting dialogue, negotiations and meetings, but at the table and with arguments which are on Kosovo's side.

Under no circumstances can we behave emotionally or in nationalist or populist tones. Only the European voice and spirit lead Kosovo towards the Euro-Atlantic perspective. The need for reaching this agreement exceeds our temporary political mandates. Current reports between the ruling or opposition parties go ahead and beyond. Making the short-term relations between politicians and Kosovo parties unconventional. Hence, this matter belongs to all of us. It is the interest of all of us and the citizens of Kosovo. For this reason, as I have highlighted many times in the past months and weeks. I think it is necessary to create a more comprehensive Kosovo team, consisting of Kosovo institutions' carriers, by the president, the prime minister, representatives of political parties, coalition partners, opposition parties, civil society, meds, field experts. Work together and have common success. I think that such a thing would make this process much more transparent, a lot more creditable and ultimately acceptable and applicable, in the event of reaching the” agreement, he said.

Thaci, among other things, stressed that Kosovo under no circumstances can refuse dialogue and negotiations, while assured the country's citizens that in these negotiations it will protect the country's interest as it has always done.

This is not a process, which will produce losers. So I want to assure the citizens of Kosovo that the process will be transparent and responsible. I will defend Kosovo's interest, as I have done all my life. My call to include all the same actors I mentioned earlier is institutional, constitutional, legal and fair calls to Kosovo's delegation, or the Kosovo team. Is this going to happen and to what extent it can be seen? In any circumstance dialogue will be ruled institutionally and responsibly, transparently. And the final evental agreement will go through our state institutions, which will decide on its ratification in the UN”, he said.

He confirmed that the issue of the border with Serbia, which he said are about 400km, would be on the negotiating table and that, as he said, the battle would be fought and not looking abroad. But, he assured that they would not allow any millimeter of Kosovo's territory to be violated.

“Kosovo border issue- Serbia will be at the table. Now let's all be where they talk about the Kosovo-Serbia border. It's easy to say if I'm in that part if you don't come out to criticize me. We have to consolidate the state and that this process will close well, because it will only be us with Serbia there to push together. But it will be and the international factor and nobody is interested in undermining the state of Kosovo, Kosovo's sovereignty, the territorial integrity of Kosovo. We will be part of NATO, but we must keep in mind that Kosovo and Serbia state borders never had. Now there are experts who will give their opinions. We will have opinions of Kosovo experts. It will be the Serb side. But of course I have invited and will insist that NATO representatives in this evolved process. I trust full «in their opinion their attitude, their professional expertise vision. Otherwise we have hard enough to agree on border issues with Serbia”, said President Thaci.

While commenting on statements by top Serbian state officials about the north, President Thaci said this has always been part of Kosovo.

As far as our dream is concerned about the north, we have nothing more stupid, because it is Kosovo. I think it is more a Belgrade myth now more for the north, and earlier for all of Kosovo”, he said.

While saying Kosovo has this historic case, as it is a refocusing of the international community and has full support of the US, the EU, NATO, the UN, and that in no circumstances does this historic moment fail./Periscopi/
