The president has initially thanked Prime Minister Haradinaj for his initiative in drafting the platform for dialogue.
Thaci has pressed charges towards the opposition for not including dialogue with Serbia.
The “E knows that the platform has withdrawn from the agenda, so that the possibility even the opposition involved in drafting the platform is given. It is regret that the opposition has not taken steps to do so, though reaching the consensus would strengthen Kosovo's representation in Brussels. Politicians must understand their responsibilities. At the first meeting in Brussels, I have called for the opposition and the political spectrum to come and become part of the Kosovo delegation in Brussels. Give your knowledge and patriotism to the negotiating table there. This is the most rational action Kosovo citizens expect. Everything else shows signs of fatigue, without responsibility for the lack of courage”, Thaci said.
On the other hand, he has provided details about the meeting he had in Brussels with EU representative Frederica Moghrin.
Last Sunday we held a meeting with Mogher. We made it clear that we are interested in reaching the final binding and legal agreement with Serbia, with international guarantees. The agreement must be winning for the two sides. We also made it clear to Mogher that the two sides will be tested for reaching the final agreement, which must be concluded with mutual recognition. We have met visa criteria, so it is the EU's turn to make the decision”, the president said.
The country's first spoke also of meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq, with EU mediation.
Then we started our meeting with Vucicin's Moghrin, where we expressed our country's position in the final agreement. We have made it clear that Kosovo has exhausted its compromises. Consequently, we have said that additional compromise space is very minimal. The other side has expressed initial attitudes, which I cannot speak of. The first meeting has ended without agreement, because the process is very difficult. We will continue efforts to reach agreements and prevent the escalation of tensions, with the goal of preserving peace. Both parties are aware that the European future of the two states depends on dialogue. Dialogue enables Kosovo membership in the UN and recognition by the five EU member states that have not recognised us. If we reject dialogue, then Kosovo is blamed by the EU. We are forced to work decisively to reach final agreement”, he added.
He announced that the next meeting will soon take place, until he added that by then he expects to see political and social consensus for the final phase of the dialogue.
“under any circumstances, attitudes should be harmonised, based on our own interest. We have to sit down and make the negotiating team for talks, which will include all institutions, the Government, the President's Parliament of the Presidency”, the president concluded./Periscopi
