Thaci adviser shows when dialogue with Serbia will continue

Bekim Colaku, chief of President Hashim Thaci's cabinet, has talked about the process of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, and about the debate over who should lead that process. He said the final phase of the dialogue will continue, but the date is not known when it will happen. “Forecasts or information will come out [...]
He said the final phase of the dialogue will continue, but the date is not known when it will happen.
And I expect that within a few days we will have the next meeting with Moghrin's mediation, but it's still set the date for the” meeting, Colak said.
He said this phase of the dialogue process is most important since, as he said, the parties are expected to complete this process. The president's adviser says that at this stage of dialogue, they will make efforts for a final agreement on normalisation of relations between the two countries.
Colak said there is nothing true in claims that Serbia is more prepared than Kosovo in the dialogue process.
It is not true that Serbia has always been better prepared than Kosovo. Presented platforms are for internal use and cannot be introduced at the Brussels table. A formal and informal debate is under way in Kosovo, one among political subjects, who has an interest in getting involved in this process with the sole goal of Kosovo getting better out of this process. The platform has withdrawn, and I think this has been a good step since the Government has given political parties time to harmonise the platform. The most important is political consensus”, Colak stressed.
Colak says the topic in this dialogue process cannot be imposed unilaterally.
No subject could have been imposed unilaterally by either side. The missing have been talked to dozens of times, but there is no agreement, I hope that this case will be included in the final agreement. The lack of transparency for dialogue is done with imposing the international factor with the goal of waiting until a possible best deal is reached”, Colak said.
He said sufficient debate is under way in the country, including civil society, is involved.
According to him, however, the debate over who should lead the dialogue is futile.
“Much time has been lost by political parties, discussing who should guide the dialogue, not on dialogue topics. This is wrong. It doesn't matter who is prime minister or president today. The president does not go there as an individual, but as a representative of the state of Kosovo. In the past, dialogue has been led to the level of prime ministers and is now at the level of presidents. Thaci, despite his political baggage and competencies with the Constitution, is an equal counterpart with Serbian President Vuciq”, Colak said.
Although the Kosovo Assembly has not yet made a decision on who should lead the dialogue with Serbia, President Hashim Thaci's cabinet chief, Bekim Colaku, said the task has been assigned to the president by the Constitution.
The president and Constitution have decided that Thaci will lead the talks. The Kosovo Assembly, if it decides that the president for various reasons is not worthy to represent the country in the international arena, the Constitution must not allow that. But currently the Parliament has no reason for such an act. These are lower-level jealousy. The president with the Constitution has the right to sign international agreements. But in the case with Serbia, it is known that the Assembly will ratify any agreement with this state. It is not the president who makes the decision, but it is the Parliament that gives the final word”, Colak said.
According to him, the purpose of domestic debate is to create political consensus “so that we do not have problems in later stages”.
The president is not that there are professional shortcomings to lead such a process. At this stage we will seek normalisation of relations, but not at the expense of our country's sovereignty. The only concession to be made is strengthening the state of Kosovo, good neighbourly relations with all states and the country's Euro-Atlantic integration”, said Bekim Colak, chief of President Hashim Thaci's cabinet.
