Over 200m euros has cost Kosovo Telecom the use of Monaco's (+377) telephone code for 18 post-war years.
And despite Kosovo being divided its state code more than 1 year ago, Telekom has failed to fulfil its obligations for full implementation, Koha Ditore writes today.
As a result, the public company, which is on the verge of bankruptcy, will continue to pay millions of euros “Monaco Telecom” for at least 5 months.
A week ago, the Board of Electronic and Post Communications Regulatory Authority (ARKEP) has decided that the previous date for completion of the full transfer to the new code, should postpone from June 1st to October 31st this year.
In his decision, this authority argues that the operators are facing some challenges during passing on the new code -- in particular from Kosovo's Telekom -- due to the heavy financial situation it is currently in.
