Students from Pristina take second place at American Science Olympics

Students Tahir Zogaj, Andrew Sylejmani, Fehim Hoti, Admirim Kasoli, Dukagjin Dedaki, Medina Hajredini and Djellez Hoti are seven young Kosovo scientists.

They have won a silver medal (second place), two bronze medals (third place) and an honour medal.

School Director Bashkim Cemga has announced that Andrew Sylejmani and Tahir Zogaj won second place, silver medal, with scientific project “The design of some organic compounds as anti-Antanceros” agent.

The project has the concept of blocking cancer cells by means of organic compounds so that certain types of cancers can first be prevented from spreading across different parts of the body and then treat the disease. This project was accomplished and worked with the help and cooperation of Kastriot Ademi é student of the UP”, said in the high school announcement.

Admirim Kasolli and Fehim Hoti won third place in the world with the project, titled “Arduo House”.

Medina Hajredini and Devilate Hoti have taken honourary medals with the scientific project “The establishment of resistance to a house through the use of neglected materials”.

This operation aims to protect Kosovo's environment by using neglected materials, such as ash from the thermal power plant in Obilic, boka, cotton, plastic bags as fibrous materials. When these materials mix with plaster, they enable a more stable and resistant wall, where it keeps the house hot during the winter as well as cold during the summer”, it is announced by the high school director.

Gymnasium students' projects “Hasan Nahi” in the first stage managed to be finalists with their projects. Over 4,000 scientific projects by 136 countries in the world, of which 1285 of the final projects were selected, participated in the Olympics.

With 72 countries from around the world qualified in the finals and over 1285 projects that competed in the finals, Kosovo high schoolers managed to compete with the world and take a silver and two bronze medals at the International Race “Genius 20181818x1>.

This Olympics are organised in Oswego-New York, United States.

Despite their young age, they have brilliantly surprised the jury with the skills and professionalism shown in preparing and developing innovative projects.

This is the second time scientific high school students “Hasan Nahi”, which is private high school in Pristina, win in the race. A month ago, students from this Gjimnazi returned from Bucharest-Romania with a bronze medal at the International Race “INFOMATRIX 2018.

And two months ago they returned from Kenya- Africa with a silver medal and two bronze medals at the International Race “Golden Clomate 2018”.

So far, the “Huasan Nahi” from its establishment in 2013 has brought Kosovo 37 international medals. /Telegraphy/
