Russian combat aircraft bombed rebel-controlled areas in southern Syria for the first time since the ceasefire agreement reached more than a year ago. The news has been confirmed by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and the Syrian Opposition.
Russian air forces attacked 25 locations in Syria's rebel cities outside government control. At least 20 bombs were dropped by fighter planes in Bousra al-Harir, southeast of Dara City.
Russia's air strike comes in support of Syrian government forces, seeking to take over the strategic region. Since Tuesday, at least 19 people have been killed in areas controlled by rebels.
