Rama invitation immigrants: Come and Invest in Agriculture

Agroturism can develop all those rural areas that lack access to sea and agricultural markets due to difficult geographic positions.

Prime Minister Edi Rama today directed an invitation to all immigrants living abroad to come to Albania and invest in agroturism.

At a meeting with tour operators, Rama estimated that rural hill country in Durres has an extraordinary potential for agriturism, as it offers fantastic opportunities that must be exploited.

With agriculturalism, Rama said, we are opening a way to channel migrants' money into the Albanian economy.

“A number of migrants struggling daily and saving to help the family or guarantee the future, I am convinced that if they will invest their savings in village homes for agroturism, they will have income annually from this investment much more than on behalf of someone else”, Rama said.

According to him, “by today, this was beautiful but difficult with 20 % VAT and Tax Taxing 15% and a banal tourism that developed with bread and sewage under foot”.

That, Rama said, could not be the reason for immigrants to think seriously about their investments in tourism.

“Agroturism gives a chance to those who do not have home on the edge of the sea and have no access to the agricultural market due to difficult geographical positions, but they have a beautiful tradition available that can turn hospitality into a tradition based on success and profit”, Rama said.

We will not stop promoting agriturism, he followed, stressing that residents of these areas can invest, and with government support, can export hospitality, taste and tourism.
