Russian and Ukrainian President Vladimir Poutine and Petro Porochenco held today a telephone conversation about the exchange of prisoners between two countries.
Media bans and penalties made public by citizens in the two states have significantly increased in recent years with the escalation of relations after the pro-Western arrival in Kiev, followed by the annexing of the Crimea from Russia in March 2014 and the beginning of a tragic conflict between prorus separatists in eastern Ukraine.
The best known case is that of Ukrainian director Oleg Stentsov, who has been serving a 20-year prison sentence in a prison in northern Russia that has been on hunger strike for more than three weeks.
His case and that of several other prisoners were handled during this initiativeful telephone conversation of Ukraine, according to a Kremlin statement.
