Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq said Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit in the autumn would be a great honour for Serbia and a confirmation of traditional friendly ties between the two countries.
Vuciq met with Russian Ambassador to Belgrade Aleksandar Cherpuri on Friday, who confirmed Putin has accepted the invitation to visit.
As the Balkan Radio Service Free Europe broadcasts, Chepurin thanked Vucinaj for the high level of bilateral relations.
He said Putin's visit expresses Moscow's desire and intention to work on deepening co-operation between the two countries.
Several agreements are expected to be signed during Putin's visit to Belgrade, the presidency of Serbia said.
