Last Thursday, part of the political parties' nominated for members of the CEC would have to take the oath, however, this has been postponed by the presidency.
Opposition parties and political analysts say Thaci is deliberately stalling the functioning of this institution. They estimate Thaci is violating the Constitution, writes the newspaper “Voice” today.
As of March 27th, the Central Election Commission (KQZ) has been without mandate, while Kosovo President Hashim Thaci is still stalling the appointment of new members. According to the result of the recent parliamentary elections, the Vetevendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo would have to have two representatives in the CEC, but Thaci has only been invited by one representative of political parties, while calling for clarification by the Constitutional Court on how the division of office should take place in the CEC.
Despite warnings that their oath would take place last Thursday, it was postponed by the President's Office for an indefinite term. However, it is not expected to happen this week either, as Thaci is abroad.
Opposition parties say Thaci deliberately is stalling the appointment of new CEC members, since they say his former Democratic Party of Kosovo will no longer have the power it once had in this institution
