The situation in Skopje today is calm following last night's protests before the Parliament against the name deal, which escalated into violence between protesters and police.
According to Interior Ministry data, seven security members and two protesters have been injured during clashes between police and protesters, while 25 others have been detained.
According to police, the special units' intervention has come after protesters had started firing explosives against the Assembly and Police. MPB says they're working on the discovery of other people who attacked the police.
Protests against the deal Sunday also took place in Manhattan at VMRO- The opposition DPMNE.
Its leader, Hristian Mickovski, said the deal represents “capitulation”, while accusing Prime Minister Zoran Zaev of “national electricity”.
Mickovski said his party with all possible forms would be unable to implement the agreement.
The agreement envisioning the name “North Macedonia” was signed in Prespa, in the Greek part.
With it the issue pertaining to language and identity, with which the Macedonian side renounces any association with ancient Greek Macedonia or culture, while acknowledging that the Macedonian language belongs to the Slavic language group.
The agreement, if implemented, will unblock Macedonia's integration process into NATO and the European Union. /rel/
