Opposition parties in the Kosovo Assembly have long sharply exacerbated political vocabulary and rhetoric against the ruling coalition. But, at the same time, all three opposition parties, according to political development connoisseurs, are failing to go beyond criticism with real options and ideas that would affect decision-making in the Assembly.

In addition to the harsh political language and frequent interventions, the opposition is still seeing it unassuming to challenge it with any initiative.

Analyst Imer Mushkolaj told Radio Free Europe that opposition parties in the Parliament have no co-ordination and are failing to co-operate and make a strong opposition.

It's not enough just to stay in the opposition, to say I'm the biggest opposition party, that I've come up with this much, while politically you don't take actions that could lead, either to improving people's lives or to improving your” governance, says Mushkolaj.

The “are parties that hold resentments, especially the LDK, which seems to have not been out of anger when the Vetevendosje Movement, in fact had a very severe approach towards governing the prime minister (Isa) Mustafa”, Muskolaj points out.

He also said opposition parties are without initiative, and as he says, it is unacceptable that with such a large number of MPs -- with such great political power -- not take necessary actions that should in fact be undertaken since the start of this government's work.

It's not enough to have LDK or Vetevendosje do it in press conferences, as is common. Opposition is done in the Parliament, done with concrete proposals, done with concrete actions, and not only by assessing that Government is not doing good work, governance is not good, respectively. This is the work of political analysts, it's the work of civil society organisations, it's not the work of opposition parties which I think are acting like NGOs, as if they were dealing with political analysis, not as responsible opposition political subject”, Mushkolaj said.

Meanwhile, Valmir Ismaili analyst from nongovernmental organisation “Democracy Plus” told Radio Free Europe that the lack of co-ordination between opposition political parties has resulted with the non-efficy, both in the Assembly and outside.
He says opposition parties are not co-ordinated to hold the government responsible for specific issues.

“Instead of these in the Kosovo Assembly, together keeping Government under supervision, more are accused and counteraccused. We have the division of Vetevendosje and the creation of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), we have a LDK that doesn't want to co-operate with Vetevendosje anymore, and maybe there's not much desire to co-operate with the PSD, and in such circumstances, the voice of opposition political parties is very weak on the political scene in Kosovo”, Ismaili said.

Analysts also raise an interesting issue in the Kosovo Assembly. There, the Serbian List is part of the opposition. And in Government, it participates and is part of power, despite the ministers of this political subject being resigned. Therefore, according to analysts, the situation with the Serbian List is specific, because this political subject is neither in power nor in opposition.

The “is actually in power because it takes privileges, takes salaries, takes everything they belong to in power, but on the other hand it's conditionally said in the opposition because they just haven't left government officially”, says Mushkolaj.

The opposition in the Kosovo Assembly make up the Democratic League of Kosovo, the Vetevendosje Movement and the Social Democratic Party. Also, part of the opposition in the Assembly could be named the Serbian List. Of all this grouping, it turns out that the opposition has the majority in the Kosovo Assembly, but its non-unity has influenced the power of the opposition in the Parliament to be equal or even weaker, in the face of political power the ruling coalition parties have.
