Seven years after Nekibe Kelmendi's death

Kelmendi had finished law school in Pristina in 1968. Shortly after completing his studies, he exercised the office of the judge, and from 1974 to 1976, he exercised his attorney's profession, thus becoming the first Albanian lawyer.

Then, again, she worked as a judge until 1987, when she was singled out as well as the majority of Albanian workers on the part of Milosevic's regime. He was one of the co-founders of the Council for Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms in Pristina and one of the top Democratic League of Kosovo officials.

After the war, between January 2000 and November 2001, has been co-directing the UNMIK Justice Department. In addition to the MP's post, she was also the minister of justice in the Government of Kosovo. Kelmendi has also participated in the expert group under the Unity Team in negotiations on Kosovo's status, as well as in the group of experts for drafting the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo.

Nekibe Kelmendi was born on May 11, 1944, in Pec, and died on June 19, 2011, at the age of 67, in Pristina.
