For many people in Turkey and abroad, calling early elections a year earlier was a major surprise, while some analysts have estimated that President Erdogan is feeling the possibility of losing, with the economy beginning to decline, and with it his popularity, writes Periscopi.
Erdogan's biggest rival, and the one who after the second round [if there will be] could become the new president of the Republic of Turkey, Muharrem Incre from the opposition CHP party.
Ince is Turkish politician who has been elected four times in a row as Republican People's Party MP [ CHP, from 2002 onward. He has been the head of his party's parliamentary group on two mandates.
He was formalised as a candidate to become president on May 4th of this year.
Ince is 54 years old from Turkey's Yalova. He has been among the fiercest opposition voices in Turkey since 2002 against the party in the AKP Powers [The Development and Justice Party] of President Erdogan. He has become known for his very fervent speeches that have made him very popular online.
With the opposition united in the second round, Ince could manage to overthrow incumbent President Recep Tayip Erdogan. /Periscopi
