MPs missing from sessions may soon be punished

The lack of quorum in Kosovo's Parliament hearings has opened a debate that it should or not stop beating MPs for lack of presence. Artan Murati from the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI), in a proposal for RTV Dukagjin, the possible penalisation of MPs, is viewing it only as one way of punishment.

The sleeping stop should just be starting, but it shouldn't end here. MPs must be responsible, and if they have no responsibility for their work, they must be penalised with the removal of the wages, but penalism can go even until they receive the mandate if they do not meet it”, Murati has indicated, but has said the Parliament's regulation does not foresee such punishment.

LDK parliamentary group MP Korab Sejdiu says lifting basic legal wages does not, but not present at the hearing is a political expression.

“I have to stress that the legal basis for the removal of wages does not exist. But even not being present at the hearing is a political expression”, deputy Sejdiu has said about RTV Dukagjin.

MP The PDK, Andy Hoti, has expressed itself in favour of removing the wages for MPs missing in the Assembly hearings.

I'm very much in getting rid of those deputies who don't come to hearings and commissions. But such MPs don't think they're too bored to hire, is the MP Hoti, who has given an idea of how to avoid this phenomenon.

“These MPs are barred from travel abroad, as a hired labor may cover ten hires they receive from the” Assembly hearings, deputy Andy Hoti has added further.
