Tomorrow, the European Union's rotating presidency takes over Austria, which will run this institution in six months. Management the migraine issue, which was the subject of a fragile agreement at the summit held in Brussels, will be the priority job of the European Union's rotating presidency.

Austria for its third EU presidency has chosen the motto “A Europe protecting”, joining the concerns of most member states.

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz declared today that his government would use the EU presidency to make the bloc safer, adding that his country wants to be a bridge builder in the EU and reduce tensions within Europe.

During a speech at the summit, which is being held in the town of Schlahdming, to mark the moment when his country takes over the rotating presidency on July 1st, Kurz said his government, during the six-month period, would promote “to a Europe protecting”.

This presidency will enable the Austrian government, comprised of a collapse involving the right-wing FPO extreme, the possibility of setting its agenda while the bloc is facing problems over the influx of migrants and management of internal and external borders.

Otherwise, Austria, due to its central position in Europe and its history, supports a higher EU integration of its Western Balkan neighbours and presents it as one of the priorities of its EU presidency. It insists on the importance of the stability of its neighbours and supports the idea of a pre-advancing the Western Balkans and Southeast Europe into the EU.
