The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Federica Moghrini, on the occasion of the agreement on resolving the Macedonian-Greek name and strategic partnership dispute, said this is a historic day for both countries, but also for the EU and the Balkans.
“This is a historic day for both countries, but also for the European Union and the Balkans”, Moghrin said, who participated in the signing ceremony for the name settlement agreement.
She said many people were sceptical about the agreement, while the prime ministers and foreign ministers of Macedonia and Greece worked hard to achieve it.
The two sides made us proud, we Europeans win-win the solution they signed. I hope this will be an inspiration for many people in the region to take bold steps, as well as for all of Europe. This agreement has shown Europe and the world that any problems can be solved through dialogue and leadership”, Moghrin said.
Mogherin added that the EU will monitor implementation of the agreement because, as he said, it is not only important for both countries, but also for Europe and the world.
