German Chancellor Angela Merkel has managed to have the support of 14 members of the European Union, who say they are willing to sign the agreement to get asylum seekers back, who have pre-registered in other countries in the 28-member bloc.
The agreements have been made public in a letter Merkel has sent to the two leaders of her coalition partners, who have seen the news agencies.
Merkel has written in this document that asylum seekers who have arrived in Germany, as they were previously registered in other EU states, must be placed in special centres within the EU, where asylum requirements will be processed.
German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer, leader of the Christian Union, has given the German Chancellor until July to halt the flow of migrants to the country, or face the possible collapse of the ruling coalition.
The EU states listed in the document, which demonstrate the will to accept migrants, include the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland, states that have rejected proposals to share responsibilities for accepting asylum seekers across Europe.
Other countries that have reached agreement with Merkel are Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Lithuania, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal and Sweden.
