With 69 votes for and none against or abstention, the name agreement with Greece was ratified in Macedonia's Parliament.
In the opening speech of the plenary session, Macedonia's prime minister, Zoran Zaev, stated that with ratification of the name agreement with Greece preserves Macedonia's state and national identity, while saying we should join “for Macedonia's flag to wave” in Brussels.
With this decision, not only do we win a friend, strategic partner, not only guarantee stability and security, but we also realise the century-old aspirations of our ancestors, to eventually accept into the world a state in which they speak Macedonian. On this important issue, Macedonia's citizens will decide what futures target”, Zaev said.
Ratification of the name agreement with Greece comes after “The green framework” that it received yesterday in the municipal municipalities, following its signing in Prespa during Sunday.
