The century-old mosque of Lipjan's Llugagji village has been the target of an attack on the evening between Friday and Saturday.
The attack has damaged internal walls and the “hytbes” section, KTV reports.
The mosque, residents say, was found in this situation when it came out to forgive Sabah.
They add that they do not know who might be the author of the attack.
In the police, without providing too much detail, they have said they are investigating the case and the attack on the mosque has been described as “Nothing or damage to property”
However, residents say that recently, there have been disagreements over a requirement for building a new mosque.
According to them, most want new mosques at their next location and the preservation of the old mosque built in 1917 which had also served as a school.
While others want the collapse and then construction of the mosque at the current location.
For the new mosque, they say the Lipjani municipality had approved the demand for the division of this parcel near the school, but the same decision has been temporarily suspended.
While expressing his surprise at what has happened, the imam of this mosque, Vehbi Gajtan, condemns the attack, which says it is the first incident in 13 years that he has prayed in Llugagi.
While, it claims most have agreed to the mosque at the next location.
As he speaks well of the villagers, he stresses the need for a new mosque.
Lipjan Community spokeswoman Bellakie Jashari has said that the decision on the new location for construction of the mosque has been suspended until the arrival of reconciliation among residents.
According to residents, the Kosovo Institute for Protection of Monuments has made the assessment of this object.
Television has tried to get information on the status of this object, but IKMM officials have been calm Saturday.
