LDK: Thaci fears opposition will take majority to CEC

Dushi has clarified that out of six positions in the CEC chairmanship, the ruling coalition will have two members, as long as they have LDK and VV, while six other positions will meet non-Albanian parties.

What has emerged from the election result turns out that the ruling coalition is halved representation in the CEC under the constitution formula. That fear has prompted Thaci to delay the appointment because the opposition takes the majority to the CEC. The LDK and VV will be represented by two members. There are six members from the Albanian parties”, Dashi has said, who added that the president has sought interpretation from the constitution regarding two positions that would hold the ruling coalition.

It is not the first time that CEC members will remain without mandate, the constitution defines it as a permanent institution. The president has not appointed with the reasoning that we have entered the regular process and has 60 days after the election's end, but this is the most distant term, no one stops the president from appointing the CEC members two or three days after the confirmation of the results. The first argument has been that it was local elections. March 27th has been the deadline for Kosovo to have the CEC functional. We're facing something new that's never happened before. It is the intentional procrastination of the presidency of this process, which is very important”, Dush said.

The LDK has nominated two members, who have submitted them as proposals to the president of Kosovo. They have accepted and confirmed these proposals and have demanded that the LDK complete additional documentation concerning the two members.

But expectations following the request for interpretation by constitutional Dashi have said they are unreasonable, as Thaci has already elected chairman of the CEC and some other members.

If it's said that we've asked the constitutional interpretation to be expected, then take its answer, but this procedure as it's going is strange because once we had the appointment of the mayor, later to some members, but now why two members were appointed by PAN-1x1>, Dashi has clarified.

The main goal has been procrastination, not to be expected by the constitutional interpretation at a time the court is dysfunctional. There's no other formula for the CEC. There has been a tendency to drop charges against the presidency, but on the other hand, the opposition is unable to have the majority in the CEC”, he added.

The Presidency's Department of Jury Affairs in a letter sent to Vetevendosje parliamentary group chief Glauk Konjufca, announces that Thaci has decided to appoint the first group of CEC members and on June 21st at 10:00 will be sworn in by the first group of members of this institution.

In the letter, provided by Kosovo Preress, it is said that under the proposal of the Vetevendosje Movement Parliamentary Group, Nazlie Bala ranks first, by two nominated by this parliamentary group, so they have invited him to take the oath.

“While, in terms of the appointment of the second group of members of the CEC, will be expected the interpretation of ninth 139 paragraph 4 of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo by the Constitutional Court, since, the president of the Republic of Kosovo to avoid any dilemma over which parliamentary groups the members of the CEC should be appointed, has demanded the interpretation of this article by the Constitutional Court”, the letter sent to Vetevendosje.

For further steps, the letter has been told that they will be announced in time.

Otherwise, the Vetevendosje Movement the day before reacted to the failure to confirm nominations by President Hashim Thaci of the two CEC members nominated by this party.

The current VV member in the CEC, Adnan Rrustemi, who was again nominated by his party, was not summoned by the presidency to confirm his nomination as a member of the CEC.
