The Democratic League of Kosovo through a statement for the media has said President Hashim Thaci has no authorisation to negotiate on behalf of Kosovo citizens and that any agreement reached in Brussels with the Serbian side can only be his private agreement, but not on behalf of Kosovo.

“We believe dialogue is the only way to resolve issues with our northern neighbour, Serbia. We want to welcome the commitment of our international friends in this process, the EU and the US. According to the Constitution, the Kosovo Assembly is the only body that decides who represents Kosovo in dialogue with Serbia”, the statement said.

The LDK considers that Kosovo's Assembly has not yet decided on the issue, as the platform for dialogue with Serbia, which was in order day in the Parliament, withdrew from the Government, already the 2011 platform authorising Government to dialogue with Serbia.

The LDK does not support the president to develop dialogue with Serbia, as according to this party he does not represent Kosovo's political will, while expressing readiness to take over this important process for the country's future.

“This responsibility we will take through citizen vote, in free elections”, the statement said.
