Kosovo trade deficit deepened at 13 per cent in May

In the Kosovo Statistics Agency report (ASK), data from Foreign Trade in Kosovo points to a higher trade deficit of 13.1 percent in May 2018, in proportion to the same period in 2017, worth 277.8m euros, compared to the deficit of 245.7m euros in 2017. AKS says export covers import by 10.6 per cent.
KSF data says that export of goods in May 2018 was worth 32.8 million euros, while import 310.6 million euros, which is a drop of -2.0 per cent per export and an increase of 11.3 per cent per import, compared to the same period in 2017.

Kosovo's exports to EU increased by 50 per cent with leading Austria, Germany partners
Kosovo's <x0ports in EU countries reached 11.2m euros, or about 34.4% of total exports, with an increase of 51.6%. Key partners for export of goods to the EU are: Austria (10.2%), Germany (4.5%), Slovenia (3.9%), Great Britain (3.8%), Holland (3.4%), Bulgaria (3.0%).”, suggests communique
Kosovo imports from EU countries stood at around 133.2m euros, or 42.9 per cent of total imports -- an increase of 13.1 per cent. Imports with higher turnout were from: Germany 12.7 percent, Italy 8.4 percent, Spain 2.9 percent, Greece 2.5 percent, Poland 2.2 percent, and so on.
In the export of goods to CEFTA countries, Kosovo marked a small increase of 5.2 per cent where Albania was the main partner.
“In May 2018, Kosovo exports with CEFTA countries reached 17.5m Euro, or 53.5% of total exports, with a 5.2% increase. Key export partners from CEFTA countries are: Albania (18.5%), Macedonia (12.2%), Serbia (12.1%), Montenegro (8.0%).”, explains communique
While imports from CEFTA countries in May 2018 reached 85.5m euros, or 27.5 per cent of total imports, with an increase of 13.9 per cent. The countries with the highest share in import was: Serbia 12.6 percent, Albania 6.5 percent, Macedonia 5.0 percent and B&H 2.9 percent.
Kosovo's exports with other countries reached 3.9m euros, while imports reached 91.8m euros.
Kosovo's <x0ports with other countries of the world reached 3.9m euros, or 12.1%. As more important partners from these export countries, it's worth mentioning: Switzerland (7.8%) and Turkey (2.3%). While, Kosovo's imports with other countries of the world reached 91.8m euros, or 29.6%. The countries with the highest share in import in this group were: Turkey (10.4%) and China (8.9%)”, the AK said.
