Kosovo seeks help from two UN agencies in reducing environmental pollution

Under the official visit to Vietnam, Environment and Spatial Planning Minister Albena Resitiaj, at separate meetings, has met the leaders of the two agencies near the United Nations, Eric Sollheim, executive director of the UN Environment, and Maimunah Mohammed Sharif, executive director of UN Habitat.
At a meeting with Solahim, after presenting Kosovo's environmental challenges, Resitij sought support in reducing environmental, land pollution, water and air pollution in Kosovo, as well as access to international funds for the environment, is shown through a media communique.
On the other hand, Solheim said the agency leading them has been supporting developing countries, on their way to overcoming environmental problems, on this road supporting Kosovo according to him will not be lacking.
He further pledged that he will engage officials from the Agency for Finding Funds for Kosovo, taking into account that Kosovo being not part of the United Nations has no access to international environmental funds.
“In the meeting that Minister Resiti had with UN-Habitti director Maimunah Mojad Sharif, thanked him for the support this agency has given and is providing for Kosovo, particularly in sustainable development of human settlements and spatial planning through support for the creation of the Kosovo Cadastral Agency and the Institute for Space Planning within MMHPH, as well as in building a legal framework of planning in line with the EU-<56 directives, the communique is said.
Sharif pledged that this support for Kosovo will continue and in the future.
Sharif's stock agreed to continue co-operation in advancing environment and spatial planning through implementation of joint projects.
