The media are only allowed to take images at the start of the meeting. At the invitation of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Behgjet Pacolli, the former prime minister is staying in Kosovo. Under this visit, D'Alema has met with President Hashim Thaci and has been guests for iftar in the Pacolli family.

Italian politician and diplomat D'Alema is known as one of the men of the longest career on the Italian political scene and has been chairman of one of the main parties of this friendly Kosovo country, its foreign minister and about 30 years of deputy in Parliament.

He's an adviser to several powerful international governments. D'Alema is also known for listing his country, Italy, a NATO member, in favour of armed intervention in Kosovo's defence, making Italy's air bases available.
