The Central Election Commission has remained dysfunctional for four months, while after a week the Constitutional Court is expected to remain without decision-making power, the newspaper “Zri” writes today.
Besides the Central Election Commission (KQZ) that has remained dysfunctional for four months, in a few days (on 15 June), the Constitutional Court is expected to remain without decision-making power as well.
This is as the three current judges of this court are expected this month to expire with the mandate, while to have the constitutional quorum there must be at least 7 judges out of 9 as much as there are.
Recognisors of the legislation consider that such a thing significantly harms the Constitutional Court, as the raw materials cannot be addressed at all.
According to them, procedures to come up to the final election of judges can take until mid - summer or autumn.
On the other hand, President Hashim Thaci has not yet appointed new members of the CEC, though this institution has not been operating for a long time.
The nominated for members of this institution by the opposition blame exactly the head of state for such a procrastination.
