Republika Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Enver Hoxhaj is staying in London for official visit, where he met with Minister for Europe and America in the British Government, Alan Duncan, British Parliament deputies, and has attended the preparation conference for the London Summit for the Western Balkans organised by House of Lords.
Deputy Prime Minister Hoxhaj and Minister Duncan have discussed the London Summit at the Berlin Framework Process, which will be held on July 09th and 10th, the impact and expectations for the Western Balkans after this summit.
Hoxhaj stressed the importance of the presence of Great Britain in Kosovo and the region. He said Kosovo relations are excellent and that there have been discussions of broader co-operation in various areas of common interest.
At the conference for the Western Balkans, Hoxhaj stressed that concerns about Balkan security are open issues among states, but also external threats, such as Russia's influence, which is constantly working on destabilising the region. A concrete example, Hoxhaj said it is the Russian intelligence centre in Nis, Serbia.
“To ensure peace and stability in the Balkans, all countries must commit themselves on the road towards the EU, and Serbia in particular. The Western Balkans must capitalise on the positive moment after the Skopje Athens agreement, until Kosovo and Serbia are entering the final phase of dialogue that must end with mutual recognition and Kosovo membership at the UN”, Hoxhaj said.
