The Communist area, with the same name lake and the Drin River on the one hand, and the alpine relief on the other, is drawing more and more tourists, especially foreigners.
But, tour operators in Coman and foreign tourists raise concern that pollution of the lake, road damage and informality are seriously damaging tourism on Albanian alpets.
Franco Suka is a tour operator who has been working on it for 14 years: “The road is broken. Also, the lake needs to be cleaned from plastic waste because it's full. Only us as volunteers clean it up from time to time”.
Meanwhile, another tour operator says that besides pollution and road damage, the problem is informality: “Everyone is doing tourism contrary to the law. When you tell them, answer “I'll eat bread”.
Papasterity and road damage are also concerns for foreign tourists: “is the first time I have come to Albania. It's beautiful here, but it seems to me that there's a lot of plastic stuff. The landscape is beautiful and people are very kind. Another problem is the journey of the Comean, not pleasant to travel because of the amortization. Anyway, it's a beautiful place and I'm going to recommend it to others in France”.
Nature's beauty is what attracts everyone in this area. But in Coman there are people who are not taking care of nature, which is the main source of employment.
