The dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade is designed to be eased by the High Representative or the European Union vice president, who currently leads Federica Moghrini.
“Dialog between Belgrade and Pristina is eased by High Representative / EU Vice President”, says European Union spokeswoman Maja Kocijanciq, for Gazeta Alo, when asked about Germany's request for special representatives in the dialogue.
According to Kocijanciqi, EU countries constantly update teams in different working groups.
“EU Member States regularly update on Dialogue by High Representative / Vice President at the European Union Foreign Affairs Council and from its team to various working groups of the European Union Council”, Kocijanciq says.
European Union High Representative Federica Moghrini has called Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and Serbia President Aleksandar Vuciq to the meeting.
Sunday's negotiations, according to the parties, mark the beginning of the final phase aimed at reaching a legally binding agreement leading to normalisation of reports between the two countries.
A day earlier, referring to sources in official Brussels, media in Serbia reported that Germany has proposed that instead of EU diplomatic chief Federica Moghrini, the negotiations lead a special Union representative.
The reason why Moghrin is at the same time dealing with a lot of work and there is not enough time to pay attention to dialogue and solve problems that arise during negotiations. That's why the idea of having a special representative” said this source.
Despite these statements, official Brussels reaffirmed that there could be no special representative who could be a facilitator other than the one already predetermined, the EU High Representative.
