Delawi: Training at the Security Academy is consistent with standards

US Ambassador to Kosovo Greg Delaway has stated that all those trained at the Kosovo Academy for Public Security should make sure that the training they receive is in line with the standards required by this institution.

Delawi made these comments during a visit he had with Interior Affairs Minister Batush Gashi at the Security Academy, on the occasion of his membership in the US Standards and Training Association.

“This commitment of the Government of Kosovo is essential to maintaining Kosovo's citizens' trust in all security institutions, so you have done a very good job, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the board, other agencies that are trained here, should make sure that the training they receive at the academy is in line with standards, and that means that all the time we review it, verify and correct those standards to meet all the needs of law enforcement officials that are trained and communities that will serve<1> said the ambassador.

Kosovo's Academy of Public Security Director-General Ismail Smakqi said the international accreditation that took place last month by the Standards and Training Directors Association is the first accreditment of association outside the US.

This is the first accreditation outside the United States of America of an association that makes the accreditation of all the police academys of the United States of America and we have behind this privilege of becoming first accredited in the world and we know it's the first accreditment in the region that has an international accreditation”, he said.

In contrast, Interior Minister Bejtush Gashi said that without ICITAP's help, this apology would be delayed.
