The threat comes on the eve of White House preparations to publish the list of Chinese products to which increased taxes will be imposed.
US President Donald Trump has threatened to increase taxes on Chinese goods worth $150 billion in response to charges due to Chinese trade in US and technology policies.
In view of this, the White House on Friday is expected to publish the list of Chinese goods worth $50 billion, which will be subject to the added 25 percent tax.
Beijing promised that China would buy more soybeans, natural gas and other products, but warned that after talks with Minister of Commerce Wilbur Rose and Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Li He on June 3rd, all agreements would fall down if Trump implements the threat of imposing the tax.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who is in Beijing today, told reporters that he had constructive talks with Chinese officials, including Foreign Minister Vang Yi.
Our deficit with China is very high, and I point out how important it is for President Trump to correct the situation so that the trade is more balanced, more mutual and more sincere, with the possibility of approaching American employees fairly”, Pompeo said.
